Laithwaite and William Foster Football Foundation Hubs

Working in collaboration with the Football Foundation – a five year commitment to building multi pitch hubs across towns and cities across the United Kingdom – Wigan Council have realised their vision to provide two new Hub sites at Laithwaite Park and William Foster playing fields in Wigan.

Following a North West Construction Hub Pre Construction Phase, Halliday Meecham Architects were appointed to support Galliford Try in the Design and Delivery of the projects through the Construction Phase to completion. Each site includes changing pavilions, multifunction club rooms, education rooms, bar and commercial kitchens, car parking and associated external works will support celebration in support, participation in football and other physical activity to improve the wellbeing of Wigan boroughs communities.

The projects were delivered through Covid-19 restrictions and required the extensive use of digital technology to close out planning consultations and deliver online stakeholder Client Engagement Meetings.
